Biography

Dr. Joe W. Neisler

Professor of Horn Emeritus

Illinois State University

 

A native of Jackson, TN and former student of Lynn McNatt at North Side High School, Joe Neisler joined the faculty at Illinois State University in 1985 and performed with the ISU Sonneries Faculty Woodwind Quintet and the Faculty Brass Quintet. Formerly Principal Horn of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Opera Illinois, Sinfonia da Camera, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, the Prairie Ensemble and Pine Brook Studios, Dr. Neisler has also performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Memphis Symphony and the Jackson Symphony (TN) Orchestras.

Dr. Neisler studied with the principal horns of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic: Philip Farkas, Myron Bloom, Frank Brouk, Froydis Wekre, Meir Rimon and Michael Hatfield. Dr. Neisler holds the BM and MM and DM from Indiana University.

 

Joe Neisler is a Conn-Selmer Artist-Clinician and has performed and presented Master Classes in North America, Europe and the Orient. Joe Neisler has performed with celebrated conductors including Aaron Copland, Semyon Bychkov, Margaret Hillis, Franco Mannino, Raymond Leppard, Fiora Contino, and Karel Husa. Dr. Neisler has performed with world-class soloists and entertainers including Itzhak Perlman, Garrick Ohlsonn, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Jaime Laredo, Awadagin Pratt, Angel Romero, Andre Watts, Julie Andrews, Tony Bennett, The Moody Blues, Vince Gill, Johnny Mathis, Suzy Bogguss, Englebert Humperdinck and Robert Goulet.
